LAMA SA-315B SAR CoastGuard Maiden DAY...
The LAMA SA-315B (SAR) CoastGuard
as maiden at our private flying club field yesterday.

The weather was very hot,,,
the LAMA as done very well I must say.
At the end of the day,,, the test pilot ask me,,,

Do you want to HOVER the LAMA now?
Huh,,, this was not plan, as I was there to assist
the test pilot buddy on that day.

What a suprise to be having the JR 2.4 in my hand and
the LAMA start-up turbine process. Wow,, just fantastic
and a very small HOVER I did acheived.

But we were both very deadbush after a hole day at the sun and hot weather. So I decide to get her back on the ground and call it the day.

What a wonderfull evening I had after, by watching my video's of her first
freespace flying abilities. Paul the test pilot will keep ajusting till she
comes to afine tune for me to handle more easely.

Again,
it was a blast to see the LAMA airborn and in front of my eyes. She is not finish as to details to be done,,, I will do that as soon as she come back home again.

A fiew wrods from the test pilot:

Todays mission forward flight testing and adjusting.
Flying weight 10 pounds and nose heavy to help on ballooning
Throttle response is too slow so I will adjust the ESC program.

Flight time are 6 min flying, temp readings are good considering the high outside temp.

Till the next mission

Re: LAMA SA-315B SAR CoastGuard Maiden DAY...
Hey Buddies,
thanks for the nice words !

She is shure sweet and nasty at the same time.
But I will handle her like I handle a sweet cherry pie,,, lol....

Paul will keep ajusting till fine tuning have been acheived.
I am in no worry with such a top expert in the helicopters world.

And about the SK360 stabilization system.
Well we took the decision to go with out it.
As many issues are not acheived for a well flying LAMA of my. And as you know, the system always keep the all servo's working hard.

I at this time will handle the LAMA with out the SK360 for now. I trust auto pilot system,,, but for me at this time, I prefer to handle this helicopter with my brain and experience then letting a auto pilot taking over my machine.

The MRB-III scale headrotor are well balance devise anyway.

Their is a fiew ajusting to the LAMA flying system.
My buddy test pilot is shure having fun ajusting her at her best.
More testing will be acheived next tuesday.

Will keep you posted on my doing later.

Yesterday,
I made my self a radio transmitter platform that will be hold by a neck strap.

I am not creazy about holding the radio in my hand and driving the helicopter at the same time with my finger tips. Not precise for me.

As I use my fingers to fly, this will come handy next tuesday while I'll do some more HOVERing with a more ajust LAMA.

Ps: The battery will be re-locate near the headrotor & behind the gyro devise.

So I'll be able to ajust my working office instruments and seat devise in there. The battery was in the canopy only for test on maiden day. Will look more as a scale LAMA and with fully showing the canopy interior.

Till next time Buddies...

Re: LAMA SA-315B SAR CoastGuard Missions ...
Paul saying:

yup and now very anxious to fly it again.
Made the cut behind the canopy to slide over battery and also assembled the seats and panel and adjusted to be able to remove them easely. They just need to be finished well now.

I just sprayed a coat of light gray primer on the cockpit seats and panel, then I will wait for the Capt. to tell me if he wants me to finish the cockpit or if he wants to do it.

(I will do it my self (LAMAHORSE)

Paul:
Still waitting for the light system, and there will be a light in the instrument panel.
Also waitting on new blades too.

I know sometimes I sound a bit frustrated when I encounter certain snag but thats because ................I am
seriously I like doing it for LAMAHORSE. I still learn from those builds.

Its my pleasure LAMAHORSE, the only thing I ask when it goes back to your home base, is please go easy ,take your time and one step at a time even if you have lots of sim time.

The hover is very stable so you will have fun even in the hover step and landing on your pad.

Re: LAMA SA-315B SAR CoastGuard Missions ...
Yesterday,
My mentor Paul as brought the LAMA SA-315B SAR CoastGuard
next to the water on a beach and made her fly over the water edge beach. He as done one flight only,,, as he was flying some other helicopter he own's.

I was not there,,,

I did start yesterday my winter (Suisse Alpes) helipad. It is Rustik and made of small square Cedars wood. I have got the wood from my friends that cut's trees and make floors. So I got all the extra's wood cutting I wish to have and made the platform helipat yesterday complet.

It is very large and will be use at any serunding backyard location

I wish to use it. I could even make it hold next to bug snow band. So it looks like the one they have in the Europe Alpes and located next to the mountain edges. Today will go see for a big stand in the store and see what they have for sale there. Will do photos as soon as I have some more inplant together as the devise helipad goes.

PS: We wont fly this week-end. As Paul will got to a FunFly event.

I'll doing something else for a change, and will be going to my hobbystore

if stuff arrived. Then will be going on car drives to find flying location in the middle of no where with some great serunding site. Should be cool!

Next flight will be on next tuesday...
Here is some by the water photos from Paul with my LAMA.

Should here some good news from my hobbyshop I hope today!

Re: LAMA SA-315B SAR CoastGuard Missions ...
Okay Buddies,
got a video from last friday flight hover at my mentor
beach shore location. My mentor only hover the LAMA
near the beach and water edge for fun that morning.

Notice the LAMA is in a more stable state of mind then the last fiew test we did from the last time we were out. Should get the LAMA very soon back to here own base. That sound great to my hears... lol...

Will probably go at the hobbystore monday if all my order got in. Will keep you posted...

While waiting,,,
I have complet a look a like LARGE helipad platform made of cedars square wood,, like the ones they use in the Suisse Alpes country next to those mountain peak for the helicopters to hover land duty there.

I only have to find the support that will hold the cedars wood helipad in place in the snow,,, like a big camera stand with multiple ajustment the leg's. I am looking and will find it soon I'm shure. So this winter my mentor and I will fly at our backyard estate from tha helipad.

Will be very cool to fly on those week-end with deadwind and alote of sun,,, and all this with the comfort of our home to re-charge and warm our fingers in our basement. What kind of comfort can I ask for more hey!!!

Can you belive it,,, The LAMA as already 5 stars on YouTube screen.

Re: LAMA SA-315B SAR CoastGuard Missions ...
Thursday
was my first time doing hover with this helicopter hobby.
The LAMA as stand out with authority and style in betwen
my fingers tip's.

What a wonderfull day it was ...
In my memories for life ...

Impossible to ever forget ... Impossible to discribe ... Amen ... That first hover solo ... Just a wonderfull trill and challenge ...

I dont regret any minute, second, in this helicopters hobby ... That's for shure ... After that wonderfull first real hover solo

Paul made it all very relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaxe ...
And very secure ...

Your the best Paul,,, could'nt have ask for a better pilot ...

Now My mentor helicopter instructor buddy saying about that day: What a great day at the Club today weather perfect and the Lama in good shape. I was able to test the new settings and it went very well except for the pinion gear 8T that split in 2 just as I landed so I install the 9T and adjusted the Throttle curve and it flew very well.
Again its very different to fly the 3 blade head without digital help but its just getting use to it.

Lamahorse took the control and did a very nice control hover drifting and correcting in the light breeze.
The expression in his face said it all he was extreamly happy. Gave him a crash course in preflight setup and postflight, that went well too.

So far going good and in the right direction.
Here are a couple shots the Capt took while I was testing for him. And one I took as the Capt was doing his frist life time RC heli hovering.

Now today start my vacation for a hole 3 weeks with my mentor instructor buddy. What do you think I have plan to do on those every fall day's

He,he ...

Photos not working,, will upload some other time.
Vacation now ...

Re: LAMA SA-315B (SE) SAR Canadian CoastGuard Missions ...
Hi All,

Here will be the place to follow all the LAMA SA-315B "Special Edition"

Canadian CoastGuard Mission Leader Helicopter Unit photoshoot.

Presently making my way up on the LAMA with the flying hovering exercises procedures. Till now I am doing very good with this scale helicopter 3 rotorhead MRB-III system. No flyless bar or stabilisation system use. I most say it handle like a pussy cat on the hovering experiences.

From my mentor scale flying instructor point of view, I ma doing very well for a first timer on a scale helicopter flying machine. My hovering are very stable and my control responces are way a head on the responce. I guess he is pround that I am doing so well.

I am too,,, he,he...

It help to be a full scale real life pilot to understand what the real one does as responce goes. So you can figure what will be going on befortit happen.

Up-date,,,

yesterday was to windy to have my time hovering the LAMA at the club.I decide to stay on the ground and enjoy the day with the members buddies flyers.

Next time around will be better,, he,he... Maybe this week-end again with Paul. Will see with our schedules ...

As it was so nice as the sun goes,,, decide to take the LAMA on her new made practice transport helipad for the club . Paul also did a fiew shot's of the LAMA on his helipad. Thanks Paul, your photos are superb !!

The LAMA as change since the last fiew weeks,,, as I did detail's new ,, and made new stuff for her. Enjoy the NEW LAMA SA-315B "Special Edition" from my creation & design and
re-produce as a NEW Canadian CoastGuard Mission Leader Helicopter Unit.

I already have 40mins flying time on hovering exercises till now with the LAMA. Fantastic machine I most say ... Wonderfull machine to have I most say. So different in a view frame of mind,, from any Hirobo LAMA SA-315B I ever seen finish product...

Yeah,
do it as you please to do it ...
Look at the result's ... A wonderfull flying machine to own I most say...

Re: LAMA SA-315B SAR CoastGuard Maiden DAY...
This week,
rain, and rain,,, so got the 315B LAMA in hangar to do
my screw's inspection. All remain fit and tight. Cool!

I am looking to waht can be acheived as small detail's on her. Alote of detail's have been done till now and are looking awesome. The lights system is not in yet,, it will take a other week on the delivery,,,

As soon as they are in ,,, the LAMA is going to my mentor scale builder to have them inplant. I will also do a photoshooting of the 315B LAMA in a complet new serunding area. It will be very nice to have some major photos of her at the location I have found and serunded by water.

I will probably photoshoot her on her Helipad Platform tower and hope I will not have to many visitor's serunding me while I am working. The LAMA get very popular in my area region while I get her in my car and beside me on her transport helipad platform. The kid's just keep asking me questions while I stop at the coffee shop in my small village, while the kid's are heading for school by foot.

Well,
I keep those kid's very happy when some get their cell phone to have a picture taken with the 315B LAMA in the car.

lol...

Re: LAMA SA-315B SAR CoastGuard Maiden DAY...
After almost
a week not flying my LAMA ,,, yesterday was a other great day hovering on my exercises procedures. So friday got up early like most of time and got ready to meet PAul at MRCC very early.

So got there around 8am somthing and PAul was already there.
All fog was on the menu on the way there and was so cool. The humidity was not so nice, but the most important was that our helicopters were out of their hangar and ready to fly. lol...

So I got my LAMA and stuff out after the sun got us warm again, then it was time for me to hover flight path with some small circuit to then approach on the helipad gentely hovering the LAMA.

I only did 2 flights exercises flight path yesterday, but was such a ball to be doing so. I am feeling very comfortable with the LAMA till now on my learning, and at a flying weight LAMA of 10.5 pounds it handle like a dream at all time,, even with some small breezing wind poping my LAMA around, I enjoying correcting wind drift flight path moves greatly.

Not shure on my next flying schedule with Paul,,, will keep you posted on my doing again soon!

The most important is to enjoy my LAMA and my buddy Paul partner sharing helicopters scale flight path,,, and that is worth the time and months I have work on her... And not to forget my main engineer Paul that as done a great amount of system work on her...

Still waiting for the lights system to arrive,, should be in this week...
